MiniStor

MiniStor

Enetech is participating in the MiniStor project under the European program H2020. The solution being developed as part of the project will enable the production and storage of energy from renewable sources to increase the energy efficiency level of the construction sector in Europe.

MiniStor is an abbreviation for the full project name “MiniStor – Minimal size Thermal and Electrical Energy Storage System for In-Situ Residential Installation,” in which 18 entities from the European Union, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom are participating. The project involves both small and large companies, start-ups, and research institutions.

What do we want to achieve?

The researchers involved in the project are developing a flexible system that can be applied in any European country. The solution involves the production of electrical and thermal energy using hybrid panels – PVT (Photovoltaic Thermal). The energy will be stored in electric energy storage (Li-ion batteries) and in heat and cold storage units using two technologies: thermochemical reactions and phase change materials. Heat and cold production in the system will also be supported by an air heat pump.

During the project, 5 demonstrative systems will be built for testing in four countries – Spain, Greece, France, and Hungary.

Enetech’s role in the project

Enetech is responsible for analyzing the European construction market and the demand for this solution. We also serve as advisors in the area of thermal energy storage solutions using phase change materials.

The project work commenced in October 2019, and its completion is scheduled for mid-2024. For more information about the MiniStor project, visit www.ministor.eu. Watch the project presentation and its main objectives.
